“DEATH OF A MESSIAH”: Never-Before-Seen Photos of the Malcolm X Assassination (21st February 1965)
In these 23 harrowing never-before-seen photographs taken in the aftermath of his assassination, Malcolm X’s stunned and horrified family and friends make desperate efforts to save his life following his brutal shooting by a Nation of Islam (NOI) hit squad from New Jersey that was reportedly led by a Fruit of Islam (FOI) lieutenant from Muhammad’s Mosque #21 in Jersey City. Known as Linward X Cathcart (aka Abdul Karriem Muhammad), this suspected assassin was reportedly photographed at the Audubon Ballroom laughing over Malcolm’s body as his life ebbed away.
Linward X is believed to be the leading surviving unindicted co-conspirator in Malcolm’s 21st February 1965 killing and is suspected of having acted in league with the five assassins from Newark’s Mosque #25 who were named in the 1977-78 affidavits sworn by convicted assassin Talmadge Hayer (aka Thomas Hagan). But as of May 2020, Cathcart remains at large and is known to reside in Plainfield, New Jersey.
And like the late Malcolm X assassin William X Bradley (aka Al-Mustafa Shabazz) seen in the Netflix docuseries ‘Who Killed Malcolm X’, Cathcart has successfully reinvented himself as a pillar of New Jersey’s black community and one who appears to enjoy the same level of patronage and protection by that state’s political elite that Bradley once did.
